Adventure #1: The move from Georgia to Monterey, California. Working title: "Cats, cost of living, and happy calamity in the land of endless summer..."

We'll pick this story up at the end of Olmsted Orientation Weekend in Washington, D.C..

House hunting in Monterey proved less challenging than the anxiety we allowed ourselves to have. J had planned a trip to Laguna Seca motorspeedway to watch his father race his 1972 MGB GT(E) electric vehicle conversion in the ReFuel Series. After this experience, J added Speed Ventures to the list of California, "must do" items.

The plan was to stay for four days and do some house hunting... but three days before the trip, we signed a lease on a gem of a rental. A cute little home we found in Old Monterey. With house hunt over, the trip was all about family, relaxation, and exploration.

While in Monterey, J took the opportunity to link up with a few other Olmsted Scholars. One of which was kind enough to let J crash in their guest room for the small price of cat-sitting. Another, Richie, had the inside scoop on the best flavors in town.

There was some great food and great friends!

There was only one good sweat session, but balance is important too.
